This Week in Tech: Instagram, Twitter, Super Mario, iOS 10 and the New iPhone

The last 7 days have been big in the world of tech and social media! Instagram is finally letting users moderate comments, Twitter is finally nixing the 140 character limit, and of course – last week’s Apple Event brought big changes to the iPhone. So let’s get to it!

A Breakup Letter To My iPhone

To my dear iPhone 6,

We’ve been together for 9 months now and we’ve had some great times. From the births of nieces and cousins to awkward adventures in online dating to being dropped on average 3 times a day, we’ve been through it all without a scratch or a crack.

The Best Free Photo-Editing & Graphic Design Apps

I love Photoshop. I’ve been using it for over 10 years now and obviously Adobe is doing something right over there because it’s now almost 30 years since the first version of Photoshop was made available. What I don’t like about Photoshop is the price. When Adobe was still selling the physical version of Photoshop (by physical I mean the actual CDs) it could run you anywhere from $700-$1500 if not more. Now that they’ve moved everything into the Creative Cloud, you’re looking at $10-80 a month for an individual license. There is only one version of Photoshop you can (legally) get for free, as long as you don’t mind you’re using software that’s now 10+ years old. Unfortunately, if you have an iMac or MacBook that’s 2015 or newer, you’re completely SOL. Apple stopped using the hardware that supports older software like CS2. Yay, structured obsolescence.

Apple Event: March 2016 – Wrap Up

I was a little underwhelmed with the Apple Event, actually. Nothing new or revolutionary announced this time around. Apple decided to go back to the smaller versions of the same products from 3 years ago. With Apple’s 40th anniversary on April 1st of this year, I hope for a little more excitement in September, with the anticipated release of the iPhone 7. Though at this point, I really don’t know what else they can shove into the iPhone besides maybe making Siri better (I have some qualms with her, but that’s for a different post).

Yesterday, Apple released the 4-inch iPhone SE, a smaller version of the iPad Pro, new bands for the Apple Watch and software updates for the Apple Watch and Apple TV. Keep reading for highlights and details.

What to Expect: Apple Event – March 2016

Apple Events are one of my favourite tech events of the year. Behind CES, of course. The March Event is where Apple lets us know all the awesome gadgets we get to play with in the later half of the year. Here’s what’s reported to be unveiled today:
